About Collect-O-Rama
What it is
Collect-O-Rama is a collection app for iPhone and Android for anything you collect: scan an item and the app identifies it, files it in your collection and keeps track of its value, with market prices for die-cast cars and your own estimate for everything else. It is in private beta, and joining is free.
Who makes it
Collect-O-Rama is made by DCG Labs Inc. in Oakville, Ontario, Canada: the team behind Diecast Garage, the app for die-cast car collectors.
DCG Labs was founded by Bruno Ferrante, a marketer who builds his own tools and a die-cast collector himself. He builds both apps, and you can write to him and the team at info@collect-o-rama.com. Bruno on LinkedIn.
Why
Diecast Garage was built for die-cast collectors. Collect-O-Rama grew out of it for collectors of everything else: watches, sneakers, records, cards, pens, and whatever you start collecting next. Die-cast cars come along too, with a catalog and market prices.
How the scan works
You point your camera at an item and the app reads its name, maker, details and any printed reference numbers, and the barcode if there is one. Recognition uses AI, and AI can be wrong, so you check each find before it's filed, and the app suggests other likely matches when the first one isn't right. Things that are often faked are marked Authenticity unverified: an identification is never an authentication.
How values work
Die-cast cars have a catalog with market prices today, built from market listings and community-logged sales, filtered statistically. Other collectibles are recognized by the scan, and you keep your own estimate until a price source exists for them. Every value is an estimate for collecting: not an appraisal, an insurance valuation or financial advice.
What we promise
- Your collection is private by default, and your email is never shown to other collectors.
- On a public profile, what you paid, where you bought, your notes and values are never shown.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- You can export your collection any time, and delete your account from inside the app.
